My Challenge

The Lantern

Challenge

Sammy

Creative Challenge

My fun drawing for the poem below.

New: Creative Challenge from a Poem By Elena Malec

BOLERO
Elena Malec, California 1997

No one in the living room.
The cat went out to spy the moon.
Ravel is filling the air.
On a tray a Royal Riviera pear

waves kisses
to a Chabaud mixture bouquet.
It's time for the perfumes ballet

-in white, red, shades of pink tutu,
carnations do pirouettes to woo

this sublime fruit of France;

the air can feel their dance.
Blushing, the pear gives them a glance -
inflamed buds embrace it in a spicy fragrance.

The living room is floating on air.
Imagine, a cultivated vegetal love affair.

Still life with flowers and pear?!

Drawspace Challenge - Pigeon

I've been trying to catch up on the challenges in Drawspace as I have been gone or busy these past few weeks.

Rachel

Rachel is a very, very sweet young lady who attends my church. She just graduated from high school and I drew this for a keepsake.

Art Cards - the rest

These are the last 6 of the art cards that I did for the Drawspace Exchange. They have all received them at this point so I can now post them.

Playing

This was a fun challenge (well, sort of challenge).. I drew this flower with each hand, one with the left and one with the right. I am right handed. I spent the same amount of time on each so that I could see the difference between the two. It is obvious which is my dominant hand but I didn't think the left handed drawing was too bad.

Mother and Son

These are two commissioned drawings. The Mother asked me to do them for her husband for Father's Day. I will actually have them completed! : )

Commissioned work

This piece was a commission that I finished last year. The person who commissioned it now has two more drawings she wants me to do - one of which I will post next. The other I still need to get busy on - right now! :)

Luminaries

My daughter always has me decorate all of the luminaries that she sells for the Relay for Life. Of course, many of them are bought by family including my husband and my daughter. It is always fun to decorate them.

Another challenge

I really enjoyed drawing this one - I cropped the original picture and worked only with pencil.

A Little Dragon

I still like my little dragons even though I don't draw them much anymore. I decided to draw a small one for the Avatar on My Drawspace Profile.

More tulips.

Decided to go more illustrative this time. I liked the open petals of these tulips - much more interesting to draw.

This is the third portrait I've tried with the Weekly Drawspace Challenges. He is a cute little guy.

Tulips

Drawspace challenge. As you can see, I changed the composition quite a bit from the original photo.

Hens & Chicks

A quick drawing. Nothing special. . .

Card Exchange

We had a card exchange on Drawspace and I just kept making cards! It was so much fun. I ended up with 8 extra cards - these. The rest are still in the mail so I will wait until everyone gets their card before posting the ones I actually sent.

Austin

My cousin just graduated from high school. I thought he might like this pic although I don't really know if that is his thing. Hope so, anyway....

Portrait Challenge

This is the sweet little daughter of a fellow artist from Drawspace. I'm not quite finished with it but not sure when I will get back to it.

Drawspace Challenges

Another challenge with glass. I can never resist those.

Example from School

Although I haven't had much time to just draw for myself, I have started a couple of drawings while subbing for the other two art teachers; one in Pastel, and this one in charcoal.

Finally....

A very quick drawing. Just have not had time to do the Weekly Drawspace Challenges. I miss doing them, too! So I took about 10 minutes this morning and sketched up this hand.

Drawspace Challenge 10

Enjoyed doing some pastel. I like the way it turned out although not nearly as bright as the original picture.

A Day in My Life in 12 Frames

This was so much fun. I am so glad I ran across this on Jeanette Jobson's Blog.

I noticed there were several other's with the same problem as mine - a talkative cat! My Siamese talks all of the time and sometimes almost drives me crazy. We actually talk together quite often but I do wish, especially in the mornings that she could settle down. The first pic is Mitzu trying to get my attention.
The second frame should actually be the closeup of Mitzu because she will not leave me alone until I feed her some canned cat food!
The second frame is my time for coffee and morning devotions before getting ready for school.
The fourth frame is school.
Then, my classroom with painting.
Then lunch time.
Then pottery.
Then home to my front door.
I then sit and read the paper and mail, do the crossword and sudoku (while fixing supper -next frame).
Then, of course, dishes to do.
Then bedtime once more.
Of course there could be many more frames for my entire day but I had fun picking and choosing what to draw.

This really was an enjoyable project.
Thanks again to Jeanette for the inspiration.

Something different this time.....

Drawspace Challenge 9

I put more time on this drawing then previous ones. There was so much detail and even now I have lost a great deal of it!

My latest. . .

I do love value and nature!

More Drawspace

Drawspace is such a great place to just be a part of the art world. You can do or not do whatever you like. If you want you can just sit back and enjoy all of the other artist's work, or you can include your own and learn from the feedback. I have really enjoyed taking up the Challenge drawing because it has made me draw for myself rather than just working on pieces for school. It's GREAT!!
I have already published these on Drawspace but thought I might as well include in my own blog for those who don't participate elsewhere.

Latest Drawspace pic. . .

I chose to draw this picture, too, because it reminded me of my own dachshund that I grew up with. Her name was Inga. Even though she was black and tan (and this one is red), in black and white you really can't tell so she looks somewhat like Inga.
